Brazilian Incoming Travel Organization
Was
originally created when the seven charter members of an October
1981 “Gentlemen’s Agreement” came to the conclusion
that the Brazilian incoming travel business had matured and that
other ground operators and DMC´s should be invited to join
the original group.
After many years of consistent growth, BITO is today a respected
and thriving association with more than 50 associate and affiliate
members nationwide, including the country’s best DMC’s,
ground operators, hotels, suppliers and business partners, who operate,
promote and sell the full range of tourism facilities and services
available to overseas visitors to Brazil. The President and Vice-President
of BITO are members of the National Tourism Council, formed in March
of 2003 by the Ministry of Tourism, and several members of the Board
are also members of other important associations and forums related
to tourism.
The purpose of BITO is to promote an exchange of experiences and
ideas; to promote a better understanding of the incoming travel
business needs and requirements among suppliers and business partners;
to establish the highest possible standards of business ethics and
service quality among its members; and to officially represent the
Brazilian incoming travel industry in all forums.
BITO supports:
- The fight against Poverty
- The fight against sexual tourism
- Fair tourism trade
- Public/private partnerships for development
- Enhanced security and travel facilitation
- Sustainable tourism - ecological, social and economic
- Tourism education & Training. Tourism as an instrument for Peace. |
